Howard Dean caught flat out lying

This just astounds me. How can he get away with this?

Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean denied on Sunday that any Democrats had taken money from lobbyist Jack Abramoff, even though several top Democrats, including Sen. Hillary Clinton, have already announced they were giving their tainted Abramoff cash to charity.

The exchange on CNN's Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer went like this:

DEAN: There are no Democrats who took money from Jack Abramoff, not one, not one single Democrat. Every person named in this scandal is a Republican. Every person under investigation is a Republican. Every person indicted is a Republican. This is a Republican finance scandal. There is no evidence that Jack Abramoff ever gave any Democrat any money. And we've looked through all of those FEC reports to make sure that's true.

BLITZER: But through various Abramoff-related organizations and outfits, a bunch of Democrats did take money that presumably originated with Jack Abramoff.

DEAN: That's not true either. There's no evidence for that either. There is no evidence...

BLITZER: What about Senator Byron Dorgan?

DEAN: Senator Byron Dorgan and some others took money from Indian tribes. They're not agents of Jack Abramoff. There's no evidence that I've seen that Jack Abramoff directed any contributions to Democrats. I know the Republican National Committee would like to get the Democrats involved in this. They're scared. They should be scared. They haven't told the truth. They have misled the American people. And now it appears they're stealing from Indian tribes. The Democrats are not involved in this.

Are you kidding me? I ask, why is Hillary Clinton giving back her Abramoff money if it didn't come from Abramoff? Is the senator just giving away free money and openly admitting she took it, if she actually didn't? I think not. It's well known that about 2 million dollars was given to democrats....TWO MILLION. While this number does not exceed that given to Republicans, it is still quite significant.

Gateway Pundit says that 40 of the 45 democratic senators took money from Abramoff.

It just astounds me at what these people are able to get away with. And by these people, I mean the likes of Nagin (a chocolate New Orleans), Clinton (calling the running of the House like a plantation), Dean, and the list goes on and on. It sickens me.

Yes, I know about the whole indian tribes thing. My question is, does it really matter? If the democrats actually have done nothing wrong, then why are some of them giving the money back?

"Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid sent a letter to Norton on March 5, 2002, also signed by Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev. The next day, the Coushattas issued a $5,000 check to Reid's tax-exempt political group, the Searchlight Leadership Fund. A second Abramoff tribe sent another $5,000 to Reid's group. Reid ultimately received more than $66,000 in Abramoff-related donations between 2001 and 2004." Got that? Reid sent a letter opposing a tribal casino, and got paid for that letter the very next day by a tribe that benefitted. Please don't try to paint the picture that the democrats are innocent, even if they were a bit more sneaky about taking the donations. Personally, I think this sort of action is much worse than taking a check from Abramoff. It's ridiculous that senators or representatives (dems and republicans) can get paid off for one simple action (which they do all the time). By the way, Reid isn't giving the money back.

Oh, and thanks for the compliment and comment, I do enjoy a good debate. I just wish I had more time to update my blog at least once a day. Oh well, such is life at college.
